Another step towards advancing the circular economy and supporting producers in North America

24 August 2022

In July 2022, the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (RPRA) in Ontario, Canada registered Landbell Group company, H2 Compliance as a producer responsibility organisation (PRO) for EEE and batteries.

H2 Compliance will provide collection, management, and administrative services to help producers meet their regulatory obligations under the EEE and Batteries Regulations, including:

  • Establishing or operating a collection or management system (hauling, recycling, reuse or refurbishment services), and
  • Preparing and submitting reports

Commenting on the news, Jan Patrick Schulz, CEO of Landbell Group, explained: “I am proud to announce that H2 Compliance is now registered as a PRO, and producers of batteries and ITT/AV equipment can choose H2 Compliance as a PRO to work with.”

“Competition among PROs not only helps to advance the circular economy; it also fosters innovation, improves services, and increases customer satisfaction among producers. It hopefully even helps to reduce costs for producers and, ultimately, consumers.”

H2 Compliance is an acknowledged expert in providing environmental and regulatory compliance services.

Since 2009, H2 Compliance has delivered chemical stewardship and risk assessment services in North America – and its team is growing as it offers more and more support to producers.

In 2020, the team started a takeback programme in Canada and the USA (see article here). It also delivers environmental compliance services, such as registration and reporting, to ensure producers meet their extended producer responsibility (EPR) obligations in the relevant provinces and states.

Furthermore, Canada is on the radar of Landbell Group’s Knowledge Database (KDB), a web-based regulatory information service, which provides information on EPR globally.  The KDB covers all Canadian provinces and territories, as well as legislation at a federal level. Find out more about the KDB here.
