How are we supporting the circular economy in the Middle East and North Africa?

As reported most recently in last month’s COMPASS (see article here), Landbell Group is currently involved in several projects in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

To tackle marine litter and plastic pollution, and support the circular economy, Landbell Group is contributing its unique experience and expertise in extended producer responsibility (EPR).

In addition to supporting projects, company experts are also attending conferences to share insights and explore the best strategies.

On 10th and 11th October, the TouMaLi project’s first international conference took place in Alexandria, Egypt. Christophe Pautrat, chief operating officer at Landbell Group, was there to talk about “EPR concepts: success factors for EPR in the MENA region”.

TouMaLi aims to establish sustainable waste management solutions in the tourism sector in Morocco, Tunisia, and Egypt. For three years (2021-2024), the project will address the challenges posed by tourism-related beach pollution.

On 17th and 18th November, Christophe also spoke at the Megara Challenges conference in Tunis. The event discussed how to establish a new economic model in Tunisia based on the circular economy.

Christophe contributed to the discussion on EPR as a pillar for the circular economy in the MENA region.
