TouMaLi marine litter prevention

On 20 June 2024, Landbell Group’s EPR consultant, Wassim Chaabane participated in the TouMaLi Prevention of Tourism Marine Litter regional workshop organised by the Tunis International Centre for Environmental Technologies (CITET) in the pilot region of Hammam-Sousse, Tunisia.

The TouMaLi project aims to foster, develop and implement sustainable solutions for waste management and plastic waste minimisation across Tunisia, Morocco and Egypt.

Wassim discussed the progress of the registry development for producers of packaging goods within the project framework, which aims to provide relevant support and improve ECO-Lef, the current national packaging waste recovery system, in Tunisia.

EPR for small batteries and vegetable oil

From 2 to 5 July, Wassim and Christophe Pautrat, Landbell Group’s COO for Africa, Asia and Latin America, also led meetings in Tunis for the project, “Analysis of current and potential private sector involvement in waste management sectors based on circular economy principles in Tunisia.”

The meetings were organised to present the project results, in particular the draft concept and regulations on EPR for small batteries and vegetable oil.

After two years of exchange and concertation with the various actors in Tunisia, the project has now been successfully completed. It was financed by the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) via the ProtecT project.
