Knowledge drives better EPR systems

European Recycling Platform (ERP) supports new EPR Reference Database

Landbell Group company, ERP has supported the development of a new open bibliography containing more than 1,300 publications on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).

Created by the Yale Centre for Industrial Ecology and further developed through the LIFE4EPR Project, this freely accessible database brings together decades of EPR research and practical insights from academia, governments, industry, consulting firms, and advocacy organisations.

As EPR regulations continue to evolve across packaging, electronics, batteries, textiles, and emerging waste streams, access to evidence-based knowledge plays a critical role in building effective and efficient systems.

As highlighted by Reid Lifset, Research Scholar at the Yale University School of the Environment:

“For policymakers, business leaders, advocates and other professionals, I hope the database will enable them to find and use research that will broaden and deepen their understanding of EPR, when and how it works, and how it might be used most effectively.”

Landbell Group’s PhD student, Rami Al Shahrabi, gave this assessment of the new tool:

“The database is a good source for accessing academic, industrial, and commercial documents, and it covers a wide range of topics. I tried using keywords such as eco-modulation, WEEE and packaging, and the database returned a broad selection of white papers, research articles, and governmental and NGO reports.  It is a great tool for researchers working on any EPR-related topic, as it provides directly relevant materials.”
