Country finalises chemical management regulation

In April 2026, Peru formally adopted long-awaited implementation regulations for its national chemical legislation, marking a significant milestone in the country’s transition to a comprehensive chemicals management framework.

The regulation governs the integrated management of chemical substances and introduces the National Registry of Chemical Substances (RENASQ).

With the adoption of these regulations, Peru has established a REACH-like, lifecycle-based framework comparable to chemical management systems in other major jurisdictions.

Phased Registration and Reporting Deadlines

While obligations will be introduced gradually, with the first deadlines scheduled for 2028 and phased in until 2031, early preparation will be essential for companies to ensure compliance with upcoming GHS and RENASQ requirements.

Companies placing substances on the Peruvian market should begin preparing by:

  • Reviewing existing GHS classifications
  • Updating SDS and labels to meet Spanish-language requirements
  • Establishing systems for data collection and reporting
