Supreme Decree establishes recovery targets for WEEE and batteries
In Chile, Supreme Decree 22/2025, which establishes recovery targets for WEEE and batteries, was published on 7 May and entered into force on the same day. Titles III (collection and recovery targets) and IV (associated obligations from retailers and PROs) of the decree will apply 24 months after publication, in May 2028.
The decree closely resembles the approved draft. It introduces several minor changes, but the core regulatory framework remains unchanged: product scope, category definitions, large/heavy battery exclusions, producer EPR obligations (system membership and management plan submission), and collection and recycling targets for batteries and EEE (including specific PV panel targets).
