Promoting sustainable behaviour in Portugal
ERP Portugal and Novo Verde are required to invest in awareness, communication and education activities. This important work not only educates young people and adults about recycling; it can also help to save lives.
Landbell Group companies ERP Portugal and Novo Verde provide WEEE, batteries and packaging compliance for producers in Portugal.
For the last 13 years, ERP Portugal has run the Generation Depositrão campaign to educate school children about the importance of recycling waste electronics and batteries.
Schools compete to see who can collect the most WEEE and batteries and, so far this year, the campaign has collected more than 80 tonnes of waste for recycling. The winning schools for 2020/2021 have just been announced.
In 2020, ERP Portugal also launched another campaign with the Portuguese Institute of Oncology (IPO). The campaign encourages people to drop off small electrical items or batteries at one of ERP Portugal’s 5,000 collection points or at one of the IPO’s facilities. In return, important equipment is donated to the LabTrack project, which aims to improve patient safety during blood transfusions.
Most recently, ERP Portugal and Novo Verde contributed to an installation at the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology in Lisbon, which explores the themes of recycling and the effect of human behaviour on the environment.
The installation, which is called Earth Bits – Feel the Planet, also includes contributions from the European Space Agency and the International Energy Agency.
