Handbook and customised toolkit will guide the way

3 June 2025

Between 21 to 22 May 2025, Landbell Group representatives, Christophe Pautrat and Aneta Zych, participated in a regional technical consultation workshop for the Southeast Asia Regional Program on Combating Marine Plastics (SEA-MaP) in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The SEA-MaP project is a five-year initiative funded by the World Bank and implemented by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) through the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC) and with the technical support of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).

The event in Jakarta was attended, among others, by representatives of the public sector in ASEAN Member States, ASEC, UNOPS and the World Bank.

UNOPS assignment

Christophe and Aneta were at the workshop to present the “EPR Handbook and Customised Toolkit for the ASEAN Region” – an assignment awarded to Landbell Group by UNOPS, and one of the components of the SEA-MaP project.

The objective of Landbell Group’s assignment is to improve the understanding and capacity of EPR in the ASEAN region through sharing knowledge and implementation of best practices in EPR.

The Handbook will present the legislative status quo in the region, as well as address the use, benefits and challenges with effective implementation of EPR.

The Toolkit will help build and enhance capacity to implement and manage EPR systems in the ASEAN region by offering a wide array of practical tools, such as checklists, factsheets, ready-to-use templates and samples.

Introducing the two deliverables

During the workshop, Christophe and Aneta, supported by Landbell Group’s partners, BlackForest Solutions and PT Kita Bumi, introduced the two deliverables to ASEAN Member State representatives, presented preliminary findings from stocktaking activities, and elicited stakeholder feedback on the planned structure, content and design of the Handbook and the Toolkit.

As both products must serve the needs of ASEAN countries at three different implementation stages – no EPR, EPR regulations in draft form, and EPR implemented recently – stakeholder input is paramount to the success of the assignment.
