The European Commission’s Directorate General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE) and the European Boating Industry Association (EBI) co-hosted a workshop on 8 February on how to deal with end-of-life recreational boats. The aim of the workshop was to discuss possible solutions to this growing waste stream, together with representatives from Member States, associations and industry.
Aneta Zych, Global Take-Back Solutions Manager at Landbell Group, also participated. Aneta presented the principle of extended producer responsibility (EPR) and shared Landbell Group’s extensive experience of managing EPR for other waste streams.
EPR is one of the possible solutions being considered to ensure effective take-back and recycling of end-of-life recreational boats.
