Please note that the Swiss WEEE regulation now covers all electrical and electronic devices

On 20th October 2021, the Swiss Federal Council approved the proposed changes introduced to the Ordinance on Return, Take Back and Disposal of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (VREG).

Due to the ongoing discussions on the parliamentary initiative 20.433 – “Strengthening the Swiss circular economy” – the aspects of the future financing solution for the collection and disposal of electrical and electronic equipment within the framework of the VREG were cancelled in the adopted version.

A new scope is now provided and extended to all electrical and electronic devices, including medical devices, monitoring/control instruments, vending machines and photovoltaic modules.

The Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC) will publish a detailed list of all the devices in scope.

Switzerland is one of the countries covered by Landbell Group’s regulatory tracking service. Find out more about the service here.
