Long-awaited draft law on packaging EPR published

2 September 2025

On 13 August 2025, the Government Legislation Centre published a draft law on packaging and packaging waste, introducing the long-awaited extended producer responsibility (EPR) system in Poland.

The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) will centralise and manage the EPR system.

The financial obligation will be placed on producers through a packaging fee charged for each kilogram of packaging introduced to the market.

The draft law foresees the elimination of the current recovery organisations and the product fee after a two-year transitional period (until the end of 2027).

Landbell Group company, ERP Poland will respond to the consultation, which is running until the beginning of September.
