EU CLP: company names to be published

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has announced that, starting July 2026, company names will be published on the Classification and Labelling (C&L) Inventory available via ECHA CHEM.

This is part of the wider updates introduced under Regulation (EU) 2024/2865, amending the EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation.

The C&L Inventory contains information on more than 4,400 EU-level harmonised classifications and 7 million classifications notified or included in REACH registration dossiers by EU companies.

It is a vital tool for industry professionals, regulators and the public on information about the hazardous properties of chemicals placed on the EU market.

Until now, this inventory has included data such as substance names, hazard classifications and labelling elements—but not the names of the companies submitting this information.

The change aims to improve the quality and reliability of hazard information while promoting greater accountability across the supply chain

Implications for industry

Companies placing substances on the EU market should treat this development as a call to action to review the accuracy and completeness of their C&L Inventory submissions, as well as to assess whether they have reasons to request confidentiality.

ECHA’s recently updated manual How to Prepare a Classification and Labelling Notification covers confidentiality requests, as well as other aspects of complying with C&L obligations.

EU REACH: some practical guides

The European Chemicals Agency has issued and updated its practical guide, How to Act in Dossier Evaluation, which explains how to follow the updated test guidelines when examining the compliance of REACH registration dossiers.

It also clarifies the requirements and conditions for taking tonnage band downgrades and other new information into account during dossier evaluation decision-making.

The H2 Compliance Chemical team has continued its series of articles looking towards the revised EU chemicals regulatory requirements.

The team has analysed the details of the draft REACH revision documents shared by the European Commission and the implications to industry in its most recent articles:

EU REACH Revision: Authorisation, Restriction, & Risk Management

An impact assessment of the EU REACH Revision is expected in July 2025 with a final legislative proposal to be circulated for legislative procedure and adoption by November 2025.
