So many tonnes… but not enough
In October, we celebrated the accumulated collection and treatment of 5 million tonnes of e-waste. This is an enormous achievement that our Group is proud of.
But a lot of e-waste still doesn’t get collected or treated. Better collection and recycling of e-waste are important to:
- Stop the pollution of air, land and sea, and
- Secure better access to critical raw materials in the EU
The way to do it is to make sure the established system is strengthened and supported by smart legislation and a commitment from all stakeholders.
New taxes and additional administration are not the answer.
This is why we, European Recycling Platform (ERP), signed a joint letter with the main producer associations – including DIGITALEUROPE and APPLiA – Home Appliance Europe – to express concerns over a proposed new EU charge on non-collected e-waste.
