Green light for textiles EPR!
We have now political agreement on the revision of the Waste Framework Directive – yesterday the EU Council and Parliament delivered.
A timely and important step for textiles EPR.
The mandatory EPR obligation is crucial for dealing with textile waste.
A proper collection and recycling infrastructure needs proper financing – otherwise it will break under the ever-growing amounts of textile waste.
How will it all work and what comes next?
Our colleagues in the Netherlands recently took an important step by signing the first contracts with the textile collectors, sorting companies and recyclers, Erdotex Group, Wolkat and Second Life Textile B.V.
This is a hugely positive move for more circular textiles in the Netherlands (and elsewhere) and means that ERP Netherlands is prepared to meet EPR targets for its many customers.
Congratulations to Tjaco Twigt, Pernille Filemon and the rest of the team for taking these pioneering steps!
