Status: too long to wait?
According to the latest update of the European Parliament, we might have to wait even longer for the revision of the Waste Framework Directive to enter into force.
With the approval of the text now forecast for 06 October 2025, this means:
- New rules on textiles will not take effect in EU countries until late 2027
and - The 30-month deadline for implementing EPR takes us well into 2028
Can we afford to wait these extra months?
Textiles collection and recycling is under serious strain in various countries, and we urgently need to start building the infrastructure through EPR to support it.
Our textile PROs are already working with producers, and managing collection, reuse and recycling in the Netherlands.
