Global to local in 2024: With the European Union adopting the PPWR, we’ve taken a big step towards making packaging more sustainable in the EU: a positive end to 2024.
Other big initiatives were not successful – we didn’t get the world’s first treaty to curb plastic pollution in Busan, and the outcomes from COP29 were mixed, to say the least.
While we push for these global initiatives, we’ll keep doing all we can nationally:
Building recycling infrastructure through EPR legislation and implementation.
And even in the absence of legislation we can achieve a lot locally: The montage below captures just a few examples of this spirit from 2024:
- Our colleagues at Novo Verde are acting as mobile collection points at a festival in Portugal
- Saurabh Shah and Landbell GreenForest Solutions India are removing plastic from India’s beaches, and
- Steffen Rödig is supporting the Initiative “Mülltrennung wirkt” here in Germany
Of course, we’ll keep working with our fellow signatories of the Business For A Plastics Treaty to stop plastic pollution globally.
In the meantime, as EPR experts, we’ll do everything we can – all over the world – to achieve the same goal.
A big thank you to everyone for your support this year.
Let’s keep working together in 2025!
