ERP Spain supports batteries awareness campaign for schools
February gets off to a great start in Valencia, Spain with some good news: the ninth edition of the “I Help Berto Zampapilas” campaign is officially underway.
Once again, ERP Spain is supporting this initiative, which is all about recycling batteries and teaching sustainability in schools.
This year, 100 schools across the Valencian Community are taking part. Behind that number are students, teachers and their families, so the campaign has a very wide reach.
Small actions for big natural spaces
In this edition, Berto invites people to look a little further and connect battery recycling with something we all care about: our natural parks.
Through hands-on activities and educational materials, students learn that recycling a battery isn’t an isolated action, but a direct way to help protect iconic natural areas in the Valencian Community such as l’Albufera, Montgó and Penyagolosa.
These parks also take centre stage in an educational podcast hosted by Berto Zampapilas, designed to make learning easy and engaging.
Environmental education, yes, but told in a friendly, down-to-earth way.
How Berto Zampapilas comes to life in schools
Throughout the campaign, an environmental education team visits participating schools to guide them through the process, explain how the challenge works, and help make the experience as interactive as possible.
Schools are provided with:
- Dedicated battery collection containers
- Educational and communication materials, and
- 35 school days to collect used household batteries and accumulators
There’s also an extra incentive: the schools that collect the most batteries can win educational and sports equipment.
Beyond the prizes, the real value lies in seeing how the campaign becomes a shared project, where every small contribution counts.
Making lasting connections
ERP Spain supports campaigns like Berto Zampapilas because the team believes in a way of working that is collaborative, close to people, and focused on real impact.
The figures tell the story:
- More than 138,500 kilos of batteries collected since the campaign began, and
- Nearly 176,000 students involved
